Major Barrier Installation
The Safe System Road Infrastructure Program, a joint initiative of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and VicRoads, is targeting high-risk roads using a ‘Safe Systems’ approach.
As part of this program, over 30,000 metres of RamShield® Guardrail is being supplied across four projects in Victoria. The barriers are being installed in both median and roadside locations to reduce the risk of run-off-road and head-on crashes on high-speed, high-volume rural divided roads.
Project Requirements
The program needed barriers that could:
✔️ Address high crash-risk sites on rural divided roads
✔️ Perform under high-speed impact conditions
✔️ Be installed in both median and roadside applications
✔️ Meet strict compliance and safety standards
Solution and Results
RamShield® Guardrail was chosen for its MASH Test Level 3 compliance, additional 110 km/h crash testing, and 180mm system width. Its local design ensures both performance and installation ease.
Over 30,000 metres of RamShield® have been delivered:
✔️ Run-off-road and head-on crash protection
✔️ Fully tested and compliant barrier system
✔️ Durable, galvanised components for long life
✔️ A scalable solution across multiple sites
