Richmond Road, Tasmania

Highway Safety Improvements

The Richmond Road between Cambridge and Richmond is a busy route for commuters, agricultural vehicles, and commercial traffic. To improve safety on this high-use highway, infrastructure upgrades were included in the Tasmanian State Government’s Richmond Road Master Plan.

Project Challenges

The project required barrier systems that:

✔️ Protect high volumes of commuter, agricultural, and commercial traffic
✔️ Integrate with road widening, shoulder sealing, and alignment improvements
✔️ Provide solutions for junction upgrades and slow vehicle turnouts
✔️ Meet strict compliance standards for highway barriers in Tasmania

Solution and Outcomes

RamShield® Guardrail was installed as the primary roadside barrier, with BIKER-SHIELD™ motorcycle protection barriers as a secondary barrier. The combined system delivered:

✔️ Roadside protection for all road users, including motorcyclists
✔️ Durable, low-maintenance barriers for long-term use
✔️ MASH Test Level 3 and AS/NZS 3845.1 compliant performance
✔️ A complete safety solution across multiple project sections
